Germline editing: Lifesaver or a Defilement of human morality? 05.16.2026

Should parents be able to genetically modify their children? This is one of many controversial
topics that float around in society. Though this procedure isn’t quite available yet due to it being deemed unsafe, it is becoming more relevant. There are good reasons on both sides for this argument. While it could cure children of genetically mutated diseases, it could also create new ones. It could create unforeseen hierarchies based on biology that would benefit society. But as a parent one’s perspective on this topic is very different compared to a college student who has had no children. Therefore, this segment explores some of the arguments on both sides for this topic. Listen in to hear the typical reasons against and for this procedure along with where I stand in this argument.
