An exhibit paints a thousand words — as well as years and years of uncomfortable history. Following the removal of informational panels about the history of slavery at Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park, constituents and officials alike have surfaced their disapproval regarding this change, leading to public upheaval and legal battles in its wake. The recurring question remains: How much can Americans take when it comes to the sheltering of information by their government?

On December 21, 2025, 60 Minutes pulled their story, “Inside CECOT”, from the programming just one day before it was set to air. It was a harrowing account of the conditions in the El Salvadorian prison where alleged Venezuelan gang members were detained. Now, nearly a month later, the segment was released to the public, much to the scrutiny of Americans who became aware of the network’s suspected allegiance to the Trump administration. Can this incident be merely passed off as a broadcast precaution? Or does it provide some shocking hints toward the suggestion of media censorship?
