Germline editing: Lifesaver or a Defilement of human morality? 05.16.2026

Should parents be able to genetically modify their children? This is one of many controversialtopics that float around in society. Though this procedure isn’t quite available yet due to it being deemed unsafe, it is becoming more relevant. There are good reasons on both sides for this argument. While it could cure children of genetically mutated diseases, it could also create new ones. It could create unforeseen hierarchies based on biology that would benefit society. But as a parent one’s perspective on this topic is very different compared to a college student who has had no children. Therefore, this segment explores some of the arguments on both sides for this topic. Listen in to hear the typical reasons against and for this procedure along with where I stand in this argument. The Devil Wears Prada 2, a sequel to the infamous 2000's film premiered this past week and dives into the growing crisis surrounding modern media. The film takes a deeper look into the legacy of the original movies narrative while exploring how Andy and Miranda choose to address the decline of printed journalism through the infamous runway magazine.  An industry that was once deemed untouchable now is fighting to stay current in the digital age. Prada 2 examines the process of how journalism & creative media can exist in our rapidly changing world.

Hiking Club at UCI 05/09/26

Hiking club at UCI has over 350 total members and is great if you have a love for the outdoors. It truly focuses on community and always welcoming newcomers into the club. They have hikes every weekend and have so many ways that students can attend! It allows you to form so many connections from outside the bubble you may stay in. It is easily accessible and accessible for its members through their website. If you are interested or have any other questions feel free to reach out to any officers. Their instagram is @ hikingclubatucirvine and their website is hikingclubatuci.org. The website will directly link you to their instagram and discord. This club has an admirable framework created by multiple people who love hiking and exercise dearly. Join them on their next hike on Saturday at 8AM!
